I grew up in a resort town, you know, the kind of town you love to visit but you don’t really think anybody actually lives there. It was beautiful and quiet and famous people lived there. We would see Chuck Magione at the grocery store, he was a famous trumpet player in his day. When I was a teen I was in love with Lee Major’s and as luck would have it he filmed the “Six Million Dollar Man” in our town regularly. “The Six Million Dollar Woman” was regularly filmed in our little town, my mom would let me miss school when Lee was in town. We would sit up on the hill and watch them film, those were great days. He was very short so when he was walking along side Lindsey Wagner she would have to walk in the gutter and he would be up on the curb. Our town was quaint and had very unique and beautiful architecture, especially the down town area.

People came from all over to play tennis, it was a really big deal. Schools were let out and we all watched the pros or semi-pros play. We all wanted to be stars also and took tennis in school. Golfing was another big deal in our little town and again, people flocked from all over to pay outrageous green fees and enjoy some of the most beautiful golf courses in Southern California. The spa’s are known throughout the world and big names congregate at hundreds of dollars a day. Michael Jackson build Neverland not too far from where I grew up, but of course, that was after I left home. The 1984 Olympics were even held in our little town, the rowing out at our lake.

I loved living in a resort town, it was special and the people felt it too. There are towns like that all over if living the dream is your thing, Pinehurst Homes and Pinehurst Villas in North Carolina are like that, so beautiful and so conveniently located. You don’t just have to visit, you can stay and play!
